Awards such as the one from the ‘Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts’, concerts in more than 40 countries and in the main halls of the world, awards from international competitions and having realized productions with the exclusive firm Sony Classical – distinguished by the most specialized magazines of the world – place Juan Jose Chuquisengo as one of the Latin American musicians with the greatest international career.
Chuquisengo was born in Lima. He carried out studies in his country and then went to Europe, perfecting himself in Germany and then in Italy, France and the United States. He left the stage during several years and rejected attractive offers to devote himself to the intense study of the musical phenomenon with the one who would became his main master and mentor, Sergiu Celibidache, one of the greatest orchestral conductors of the century who wrote: “he is an outstanding pianist who does not place himself above music but instead strives to achieve an authentic correspondence between the sonorous dimension and man…”
In order to continue an exploration which he considers necessary for a real artistic evolution, he withdraws every now and then from the concert activity. Thus, he has been able to study composition, orchestral conducting and even explored the art of improvisation. Moreover, he has embarked upon studies of Philosophy and Art and is a regular practitioner of martial Arts as part of an integral development

A prestigious European music critic summed up as follows: “we are before one of the most profound pianists of this age, one who has crystallized by means the spiritual experience of music – let us say it clearly; the world has been waiting for this kind of pianist…”After being awarded by the Kennedy Center he relocated to live in New York. From that time on, he divides his activity between Europe and America, an activity that includes recitals, improvisation concerts and offering Master Classes, conferences, seminaries at Universities and Colleges of Music..
Currently he lives in Germany and is preparing new projects to present with SONY Classical.
