TEMPO, ESTADOS UNIDOS
'Transcendent Journey' is a gem of a disc: unusual and enterprising repertoire, programmed to cast multiple reflections on each other, superbly recorded and alluringly performed… Chuquisengo invests in all the works here with a necessary quality of belief, backed up by absolutely peerless playing, incisive in rhythm, warm, colourful and with a seemingly infinite range of touch and dynamics….The disc is a journey indeed, from contemplation to action…He is able thereby to summ on an immense power at the climax of all the activity, and to subside more naturally into its echoes. Chuquisengo's seamless shaping of them makes one feel one is, finally hearing the pieces as it is meant to be…

INTERNATIONAL RECORD REVIEW, INGLATERRA
Peruvian pianist Juan Jose Chuquisengo took the unusual step of studying for several years away from the limelight at a time when most aspiring virtuosos are busy touring the competition circuit. He emerged all the better for it...Since then he has been steadily building a distinguished career as a pianist of superior refinement and formidable technique.
Throughout a recital including such forbidding note-spinners as the last toccatas, he produces a web of golden legato sound with not an ugly sound witbin earshot.... Chuquisengo' s exquisite playing, as though every texture, every downward pressure, every nuance has been carefully examined and weighted to within an inch of its life….He values interpretative purity above all, ensuring that the music he plays is allowed to sing unimpeded by interpretative whimsy and fancy. His control of every musical parameter would appear to be absolute
There is nothing remotely plain or austere about Chuquisengo's seamless playing… it is something strangely unmemorable - as though he has perfected the art of allowing the music to speak for itself. I imagine that most of us would give anything to be able to play the Toccatas with this degree of control, power and finesse… An alluring recital, then, one of surpassing skill and exquisite finesse.

MUSICWEB INTERNATIONAL, INGLATERRA
This Sony disc is a testament to the Peruvian pianist Juan José Chuquisengo’s musical inquisitiveness.…He seems not to be an ordinary musician with ordinary musical horizons….In Beethoven He certainly sculpts an orchestral tone here…we can appreciate the dynamic extremes and the sense of control engendered…Itis most invigorating to hear his Handel and Bach, both of which challenges he deals with adeptly and warmly.
Chuquisengo is clearly a questing musician, this disc amply demonstrates it, the patterns of energy, repetition and release built a unique programme that attests to his intellectual and expressive powers.

AUDIO MAGAZINE, HOLANDA
